House Washing Whangārei & Northland
Pane in the Glass washes houses across Whangārei and the wider Northland region using the same pure-water system that's earned us our reputation on windows.
No high-pressure blasting. No harsh chemicals. Just genuinely clean weatherboards, soffits, eaves and joinery — without the wear that aggressive cleaning leaves behind. If your home's looking tired — a green tinge under the eaves, dirty marks around the joinery, salt or pollen build-up on the cladding — a soft wash will bring it back to itself. Most homes need it every twelve to eighteen months.
Why pure water, not pressure
Most water blasting damages painted exteriors over time. The pressure forces water under the seal at the edges of the cladding, lifts old paint, and leaves the surface microscopically rougher than it started — which means it gets dirty faster next time. A soft wash with ultra-pure water is a different process altogether.
Gentler on paint — no lifting, no chipping, no driving water under the boards.
- Better for your plants — no detergents running off into the garden.
- Streak-free finish — ultra-pure water leaves nothing behind as it dries, so there are no soapy residues or hard-water spots.
- Friendlier on pets — no chemical residue on outdoor surfaces or paths.
The pure-water method is the single biggest difference between Pane in the Glass and most exterior cleaners in the region. It's the same approach we use on windows, applied to your whole home.

How a typical job runs
Most single-storey homes are a half-day job. Larger two-storey homes are usually a full day. We work systematically around the property, starting at the top so dirty water never runs back over a clean surface. Our gear is quiet enough that you can carry on with your day while we work.
- Step 1: We walk the property with you, flag any concerns, and confirm what's in scope.
- Step 2: Gentle pre-treatment to lift mould, lichen and salt build-up.
- Step 3: Soft wash with ultra-pure water from carbon-fibre poles. No ladders for most surfaces.
- Step 4: Quick walk-around with you at the end to check we've got everywhere.
Combine and save
Most of our regular customers bundle a house wash with their gutter clean and exterior window clean. Same crew, same visit, less hassle, better price.
- House wash + windows — the most common pairing
- House wash + gutter clean — perfect just before winter
- Full exterior — gutters, house, windows in one go

FAQs
How often should I wash my house?
Most Northland homes benefit from a soft wash every twelve to eighteen months. Properties on the coast, under tall trees, or with darker paintwork often look noticeably better with an annual clean.
Will the chemicals harm my plants or pets?
There aren't any harsh chemicals. We use a gentle pre-treatment for mould and lichen where needed, and the bulk of the wash is ultra-pure water from carbon-fibre poles. We're conscious of garden beds, ponds and pets, and we'll talk you through anything sensitive before we start.
Is soft washing better than water blasting?
For painted exteriors, yes. High-pressure blasting can drive water under cladding, lift paint, and leave a rougher surface that gets dirty more quickly. A soft wash cleans deeply without the wear. Hard surfaces like concrete drives and paths still benefit from blasting — that's a separate service we can quote alongside the house wash.
How long does it take?
Single-storey: usually a half-day. Two-storey: usually a full day. Larger or more complex homes occasionally run into a second day. We'll give you a clear time estimate when we quote.
Do I need to be home?
Not necessarily. As long as we've got access and you're happy for us to work, we can carry on while you're at work or out for the day. We'll text you when we're finished.
What about my windows?
Most customers add an exterior window clean to their house wash — same visit, same crew, much better price than two separate jobs. We'll quote the two together if you'd like.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Pane in the Glass is fully insured and follows New Zealand Health and Safety standards on every job. Happy to provide a certificate of currency on request.
Can I book a regular service?
Yes. Many of our customers book annual or eighteen-monthly washes and we'll get in touch when the next one is due.
